the records bureau is responsible for collecting, recording, and maintaining all official police reports, property and evidence. it also compiles all criminal and traffic related statistics needed for local, state and federal departments as well as all ucr reporting.

the borough of eatontown police department records bureau is open monday through friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. it is located on the bottom floor of borough hall, 47 broad st., eatontown . the bureau is closed on most holidays. please call 732-389-7635 after 4:00 pm to make sure a records officer available.

request form for public records - starting on july 8, 2002, a new procedure for requesting public records was enacted by the senate and general assembly of the state of new jersey. this new policy will greatly increase the access to government records, but requires the requestor to fill out forms for the requested documents. this policy also includes police reports, accident reports, etc... click here to read the public access policy to government records or click here to download the request for public records form. records will not be released without a completed form.

accident reports - accident reports are available from the records bureau three business days following the date of submission from the officer. the traffic safety officer must approve all accidents before being available to the public.

criminal reports - most non-indictable reports are available through the records bureau except for all juvenile records and ongoing investigations. all indictable offenses must be obtained through the monmouth county prosecutor's office.

discovery - all requests for discovery must be in writing and forwarded to the borough prosecutor via the municipal court for approval.

background checks - background checks are performed for employment purposes for persons who currently/previously - resided/employed in the borough of eatontown. the background check will only search eatontown files. no juvenile information may be requested.

no automated state or federal criminal history checks (cch) will be provided to the public at any time!

fees:

in-person, mail or fax - first page to tenth page, $0.75 per page; eleventh page to twentieth page, $0.50 per page; all pages over twenty, $0.25 per page. if mailed, a self addressed stamped envelope must be provided.
