Green Acres

State of NJ Green Acres Jakes Law Program

We have an opportunity to build a completely inclusive playground for our community at Wolcott Park.

Eatontown Recreation will submit a grant application to revitalize the playground area at Wolcott to the State of New Jersey Green Acres Jakes Law program.

Completely inclusive playgrounds are designed to be welcoming and accommodating to individuals of all abilities, creating spaces where everyone can play and thrive.   Jake's Law Playgrounds exceed basic accessibility, incorporating features of inclusive play, with equipment suitable to a wide range of ages and abilities.  Jake's Law playgrounds by design create community hubs that embrace diversity and promote social integration.

By upgrading and improving our existing Wolcott playground area to an inclusive playground will reinforce our Eatontown Recreation mission to provide recreational opportunities to residents of all ages and abilities with the purpose of encouraging health and wellness and strengthening the community bond.

Wolcott Park is centrally located in the northeast quadrant of Eatontown and easily accessible to community residents and visitors. Wolcott is within walking distance to many residences and three public schools. This convenient location of Wolcott ensures accessibility, for these reasons we chose Wolcott.

We are excited to embark on this project and want you to us in supporting improving equitable play opportunities and independent engagement of all children with and without disabilities.  Please provide input by completing the project survey.  Together, let us create a space where everyone is able to enjoy the benefits of social interaction and outdoor play regardless of ability where all feel welcome.

The public is encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or to provide comments on the proposed plan on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 7:30PM.  The meeting will be held in person as part of the regularly scheduled Council Meeting.   Written comments on the proposed application may be directed to Julie Martin, Borough Clerk.  Email address: clerk@eatontownnj.com. 47 Broad St. Eatontown NJ 07724
